Enjoying a largely teenage and preteen following, Immature moved from Virgin to MCA with its sophomore effort, Playtyme Is Over. The label switch didn't mean a change in focus -- the group (whose members were 11 or 12 at the time) still offered an abundance of hip-hop-influenced, medium-tempo new jack R&B grooves.3/

Deftly balancing sweet soul harmonies and hip-hop beats, the Immature album Playtime Is Over has pleasures beyond its hit single and rewards for listeners of all ages. Houston and his two bandmates, Jerome Jones and new addition Kelton Kessee, were only 12 when they recorded the album but they sound markedly more accomplished and sophisticated than they did on the group's '93 debut flop/5(29).

Filling in the gap between New Edition and B2K, Immature (later called IMx) were one of the premier boy bands of the mids. On their second LP, the fellas continue their tradition of slow and smooth love ballads, with a kind of innocence lacking in today's oversexed R&B market. Features the hits "Never Lie.
